This book is not a white wash of Islam, and A. M. Amana is not an apologist.
As a Muslim growing up and living in the West, A. M. Amana has seen Muslims become the target of unfair criticism. In Prejudice Unveiled (ISBN 1463701128), he attempts to break the myths, misunderstandings, and misconceptions about Islam for those in Western cultures.
The author addresses nine main myths about Islam that the general public seems to hold. He covers women’s rights, the Prophet Muhammad, the religion’s views on Jews and Christians as well as the violence so often associated with Islamists. Amana looks to maintain an objective view of his religion, which is made possible through his worldly travels and experiences.
“I believe the world needs this book right now with the ever-growing misunderstandings between the Muslim and Western worlds,” Amana said. “I encourage readers to approach this book with an open-mind, willing to learn something about a religion unfamiliar to them.”
Amana believes that Prejudice Unveiled will show readers that Islam is the most misunderstood religion in the world. He hopes that non-Muslim readers will walk away with a better sense and more understanding view of this global religion.
Amana brings a unique perspective to his work as he has lived in seven countries over the course of his life. He has received different reactions toward his religion, but the backlash of the Western world toward this global faith seems to be the greatest.
A. M. Amana was raised in Italy by his Egyptian diplomat father and British mother. With a master’s in international relations, Amana can speak five languages and has lived in seven different countries. He completed the pilgrimage to Mecca in 2005, and currently lives in California with his wife and two children.
